We've gone Ruminant!

cria

Our new centrifuge has finally gotten here which means we can start accepting ruminant tests!

Why is testing different for horses and ruminants?  The common worms found in horses float easily to the surface without the need to centrifuge the sample.  Ruminant eggs tend to take a while to float to the surface and to speed the process up they are placed in horizontal centrifuge.

Types of worms that are tested for:

  • Strongyles
  • Nematodirus
  • Whipworms
  • Tapeworm
  • Coccidia
  • EMac

Tests only determine if the eggs are present and we do not cultivate the eggs to determine exact species.

We cannot test for Barber Pole Worms! At this time only regon State University and the University of Georgia can test for these worms.  Other wise follow the FAMACHA chart for determining if your ruminant has Barber Pole.

Tests can be purchased at https://www.farmfecals.com/store/ruminants/
Bulk pricing available for multiple tests.  We accept Paypal or use “manual” checkout to send a check in with your order.
